This book is currently unavailable until further notice. We offer our apologies for any inconvenience.

Forged in the humid training fields of Camp Mackall, North Carolina, the 139th Airborne Engineer Battalion was an elite group of brave and spirited airborne troopers. Part of the 17th Airborne Division, these combat hardened paratroopers fought through the bitter cold of the Ardennes winter, withstood the hot steel of the Fuhrer Begleit Brigade and crash-landed in gliders east of the Rhine River. They beat back an armored onslaught and helped to open the gates into the heartland of Germany.

This is an account of the unitís history from formation and training in 1943 to the end of World War II. This book is the culmination of over a decade of research, interviews with members of the 139th and exhausting research of nearly every shred of evidence concerning the unit. The book is infused with hundreds of never before published photographs and digital battle maps produced on actual maps from 1944.
